On December 19th, 2024, Bramo Tingkeo of The Post-Courier Newspaper, reported of the formal signing of the Pasca A Gas Agreement between the PNG Government and the Pasca A Gas project operator, Twinza Oil LTD (https://www.postcourier.com.pg/landmark-gas-agreement-signed-paving-way-for-pngs-first-offshore-gas-project/ )
In another article by The National Newspaper, it was reported the project “would create 500 fulltime jobs with significant benefits for the people of Gulf” (https://www.thenational.com.pg/first-offshore-gas-deal-signed/ ), as the project will be situated in the Gulf of Papua, Gulf province, making it the first offshore resource project in Papua New Guinea.
Most likely and as briefly mentioned above, employment opportunities will most likely be targeted at the landowners (the project is offshore but the supplies and equipment for the project’s construction will come from mainland Gulf Province), it’s still poised to create jobs for greater Papua New Guinea.

It’s a no brainer that the management, senior positions will be given to expatriates to provide immediate competent support but the knowledge transfer from them to the locals will be invaluable for such an unprecedented project in PNG’s resource and overall history, so our people need to be on alert and start thinking about how they can tie in their careers and life to absorb the benefits of these projects effectively, as a Landowner, as a person from Gulf Province and as a Papua New Guiean.
