Health Extension Officer
PNG Recruiter Limited is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a motivated and experienced Health Extension Officer. Our client is a growing Integrated Health Clinic committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services to individuals, families, and corporate clients.
Position Location: Lae, PNG.
Position Type: 12-month Contract with view to extend to support service needs (as required).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and patient management within the HEO scope of practice.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
- Participate in health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic medical record systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, organizational policies, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Required Qualification and skills
- Diploma in Health Extension Studies/Community Health or Degree in Health Sciences or equivalent from recognized qualification.
- Currently registered with PNG Medical Board and eligibility to practice in Papua New Guinea.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ clinical experience, preferably in a primary healthcare or private practice setting.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Tok Pisin.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Required Attributes
- Experience working in a private medical practice.
- Knowledge of quality improvement and clinical governance processes.
- Experience in occupational health, chronic disease management, or community health programs.
