Medical Practice Laboratory Technician

The PNG Recruiter Limited is currently recruiting on behalf of our client. We are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably experienced and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our client multidisciplinary healthcare team and contribute to the delivery of exceptional clinical care.

Position Location: Lae, PNG.

Position Type: 12-month Contract with view to extend to support service needs (as required).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of laboratory results.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and oversee routine quality control processes.
  • Manage laboratory data and information systems efficiently and securely.
  • Maintain laboratory inventories and coordinate equipment servicing and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and healthcare staff to support quality patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with Papua New Guinea regulatory, accreditation, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Desirable Requirement

  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience in an integrated health clinic, hospital, or healthcare facility.
  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related.
  • Registered and licensed to practice in Papua New Guinea in accordance with all relevant regulatory and professional requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Strong report writing, documentation, and record management skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience in the use of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Microsoft Office applications, and other healthcare software.
  • Demonstrated capability in laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and inventory management.
  • Sound knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, quality control, safety protocols, and infection prevention standards.
